This is an interesting article/letter from Steve Jobs on why Apple doesn't support flash on their mobile devices. If you're new to this information here's a quick rundown: Websites are built using many languages, Flash is one of them. Flash enables sites to utilize dynamic animations and graphics that other languages don't support. Many websites are flash-based. Lots of them. However, one of the main prloblems is that flash is not SEO friendly. Therefore, when someone's Googling to find a good restaurant, say in Hartford, if there is a restaurant site built in flash, it's not going to show up in the search query.
